Day 22: Circle Ring Forts and Apple Tart and a clue

Raining here but oh what rain, soft and warm. What a discovery is nestled in the Manor House Gardens of Liss Ard.  www.lissardestate.com  It's origins lie with a hill top Celtic fort designed as a ring fort, a circular formation around the top of the hill to enclose the encampment. And there are underground tunnels.. standing stones and the whole works. Today a manor house sits on the top and all are surrounded by water gardens and walking paths and booming rhododendrons. It may be damp but that's the best light for capturing the colors of flowers like this wild iris.

After all its a rainy day and what's more perfect than warm apple tart with fresh cream....... and a thin drizzle of custard sauce  the restaurant is a converted church and what a job they did on this.
